Via Dolorosa: The Way of Christ’s Suffering

It’s Good Friday. Good for us. Amazing suffering for Christ. This is a time to be quiet and reflect, to be utterly thankful, to return our love to the One so completely loving.  Read these words to this hauntingly beautiful ballad about our Savior.

Down the Vía Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The Man condemned to die on Calvary

He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death

Down the Vía Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

 Lord Jesus, I thank You that You would willingly reduce Yourself to become the scorn and sin of the world — to be willing to be rejected by those You created and loved, in order to win us back through your death, to wash us from all our wrong, to make us Your own beautiful ones. I accept Your death to pay for my sin and ask You to save me from the wages of my sin.  I thank You that

You would love me so deeply.
