Happy New Year! Without time, there would be no beginning. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). One of the many virtues of God’s orderly creation is the renewing quality of rhythms and patterns. God created both matter and motion – things in space and time – “All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being” (John 1:3 NASB).
Speed up to the present. The year 2012. Thank You, Jesus, for creating seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks . . . (Heb. 1:2; Col. 1:16). Teach us to number our days that we may gain wise hearts (Psalm 90:12). Thank You for the rhythm of the revolutions of the earth, the orbits of the moon around the earth and the earth around the sun. Thank You for the faithful dance of matter with motion. Here am I, a little dust fleck on planet earth, infinitesimal in the universe, yet stunningly created in line with the character of my Creator, bearing Your image – Your child! Thank You!
God, You have given me the opportunity to begin again. Renewal – a fresh view You. A fresh opportunity to dance with You the dance you created long ago for me, your “workmanship” in Christ (Eph. 2:10). Thank You that I can live in the present – learning from the past and facing my future confidently, because I am “in Christ” (Romans 8). I have no confidence in what is happening in this world, nor in myself, but in You who “cause all things to work together” for our good and Your glory (Rom. 8:28-29). I humbly praise and thank You. Amen!”
Folks, we are going to try a new rhythm this year with this new blog. We will post a new article on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We invite you to write a little comment – a thought, suggestion, or question. The article caused you to remember something God taught you, some insight, some story, something to add to our conversation.
It’s a new year. Facing a challenging year, in what way do you see God providing for you what you need? Inner peace? Wisdom? Insight? Stamina? Gratitude? Joy?
Thank You, Lord!
I’m excited for this Blog. You are a wonderful writer with a heart for bringing a community together to discuss God’s word as it pertains to our children’s character. Thanks for getting the conversation started!
